Subject: Back-Flush Heater Core Report
IP: Logged

Message:
Okay, I originally posted about what I suspected was a hung heater core control valve or a too cold (180) themo. Heater blew luke warm air at best.

Did the core back flush trick, got minor dark sediments, nothing scary. Now she blows like a blast oven.

New theory: reversing the water flow through the core is the only way to get through the core coil. The control valve is vac actuated. When the car is not running, no vac, therefore the valve remains closed. When flushing normally the closed valve is diverting the flush flow around the core. Maybe when flushing in reverse, flow direction defeats the closed valve and flows through the core coil pulling sediment with it.

Whatever, my wife will be happier and that's the true motivation. Thanks Gents!
