Message: fair warning to all of you guys who ever get your engine a little plastered with mud or something and then decided to powerwash it. The throttle position sensor does not like water. I decided to clean my engine today and now the damn thing idles at 1200 rpm. Unplug the TPS and it drops back to 600. stupid thing, if it doesn't dry out I will have to replace it. But thought you all should have that tip.

Message: In the future, unplug the battery negative terminal and wait for the all electricity to leave the system (5-15 min.) before spraying the engine compartment down with water. And let the truck sit overnight till all of the water has evaporated, or you could let the smoke out of something when the battery is hooked back up.

Message: I'll remember that next time:) It is always bad to let out the factory-installed-smoke out of anything.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: When I had my engine washed out my friend covered all the electronics (including the pcm and fuse box) with plastic bags...as well as the distributor and throttle body/intake (Edelbrock 10" air cleaner). Then he sprayed it down with engine degreaser and rinsed it all off with your standard low-pressure hose. He is a detailer and that's how they do all their vehicles. Looked really nice afterward and I had absolutely no issues with my truck running funny.

Message: well I don't have access to a standard garden hose so I just went to the local pressure wash car wash. used the lower pressure bay and didnt spray close up, just wanted to rinse off some of the mud I had on it. Usually I cover the distributor but never cover the throttle body. I have done this several times without complication, but this time I got some water in the TPS. I am surprised the case isnt sealed on that like my oem one was.
