Subject: Alignment and Tire Size IP: Logged
Message: I had my upper control arm bushings replaced last month at Meineke. The tires started wearing on the outer edges. I took it back in for alignment 2 weeks ago and it's still off.
I took it back today and they said it was off because i didn't have the stock tire size. Stock was 215/75-15 and i have 235/75-15. They tell me that this changes the ride height and thus puts more weight on the outer edges. They say they have to remove a plate to get the ride height correct. OH and they want to charge me because the printed tire size on the door isn't what's on the truck.
Is this true?? They did ball joints 6months ago and uppper control arm bushings 1month ago. Before the bushings i don't believe i had any abnormal tire wear. They say this is a common problem with the dodges.

Message: they're full of SH*T. Tires will not change the alignment of the vehicle. Take your truck to a good alignment shop (NOT Meineke, Car-X, etc.) and have them do it right.

Message: I called 3 dealers this morning that said the same thing. So i fought with meineke and got it done for free.
So it's driving a little better, but after inspection it looks like they moved the control arm mounts on the passenger side, but not the drivers side. After driving about 20 miles it looks like the tread is starting to stick up on the outside of the driver side tire. I'll have to drive a few days to confirm, but i'm pretty sure.
It's too much stress and anger to take it back to meineke. Seems easier for me to go to an alignment shop(thanx schmidtmike) and file a complaint with bbb.
