Message: Im trying to change out my time chain and sprockets, read the haynes, read the article here...looked easy enough. well everything is off but the crank pulley and etc. got all of those bolts out but the center big bolt. that wont come out, turns the crank is all. the "a few good whacks with a hammer" isnt working at all. and no access to a impact wrench. anyone got any ideas?

Message: You should have pulled it first i have used a pipe wrench to hold the pully still (bee carefull not to bend or break the pully)and then wrench on the bolt it also helps to have a impact to break it loose too

Message: well I got it off by sticking the breaker bar on the frame and bumping the starter. broke her loose nice.
the time chain was about ready to come loose. very very close. there was so much play...I could almost get it to jump the gears by hand. nother couple of hundread miles it would have been toast.
first time I have done this and its actually pretty easy to do, one word though...if you havent had very much practice with working on engines...do not attempt this, you wont like it in the least.
