I replaced the resistor with a new one, but they only had a new model, so they gave me the new resistor with a new plug which I spliced in colour wire to wire.

The resistors are getting red and the correct one are coming on as the switch is moved, but i'm still not getting any blower movement.

I can hear a click in the dash as I move the fan switch. (I also replaced the controls, thinking this was the problem) Does this sounds like a blower problem now?? Please help!!

i had my resistor go twice now. the plug dried out so much i had to splice the wires togather. the resistor shouldn't be turning red i don't think. sounds like you have a short somewhere. i asked the dealer for a new plug end for mine. they said it only comes attached to the whole damn wireing harness. forget that. so i spliced them in and it works fine.

Yeah, what rigby38 said, the resistors shouldn't be getting red. You either have a short inside the motor/wiring, OR the motor/blower itself is "stuck".

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Sounds like the windings inside the blower motor have shorted or corroded together, greatly increasing the resistance of the circuit, drawing way more amperage than it should. The resistor is getting hot because of massive current draw in the blower motor

you don't have to take the whole dash out to get the the blower motor.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. I've got the bottom part off (glove compartment) and I think I can see the fan, but my repair manual is at a friends house. It should give me more insight to the location.

Thanks for the help, I'll probobly have more questions later!!

the motor is in the corner. it is pretty easy to get out. getting the bolts back in, it isn't that bad. i have replaced mine twice. second time didn't need it(was the resistor and i found that out here) the only pain was getting the plastic fan part off to put on the new motor.

shouldn't that motor be fused? you shouldn't be able to draw that much current without blowing a fuse.

Well I took the motor out tonight, and sure enought the bearing or whatever helps it out is really tight and hardly turning. When we loosened it by hand and then turned the switch it would move, but it sounded like a sick dog.

I'm picking up a new motor tomorrow. $150Canadian from Dodge, $60 from Carquest and $30 from a auto part savage yard. HMMMMMMM

I'll keep you inform with the final outcome.

Winter is coming too. It supposed to be 4 celcius tonight......BBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRR.....Frost Warning!!
