Message: Could someone please post a link or photos of the 3.9 V6 intake manifold modification. I have to replace my lifters so while the intake is off I would like to mod it a bit. I am looking for more low to mid range power for helping to pull my holiday trailer. My truck is a 2000 C/C Dak. I have 3.55 gears right now with a relocated IAC, removed the torque step on the throttle body and polished it, and have done the crank sensor mod plus I have a K&N drop -in filter with the factroy "elbow" removed from the air box and a tube running to the front of the grill through the pass side air flap cut out. I need PULLING power. Will the intake mod help or hinder? I am thinking about installing the 1.7 rockers when I have the intake off also. Thanks guys!

Message: if you're going to mod for more low-mid grunt don't shorten the runners on the manifold. best hing would be to port match to the head and clean up around the inside of the injector ports. also open up the ports under the tb and put a v8 or aftermarket tb along with the 1.7rr's. do some searching on the site too. i'm sure you'll find some stuff here.

Message: Thanks, daddio, I can't seem to get the pictures from other threads, don't know why. They just show up as Red X's in boxes! I just ported the tb on the incoming upside but i am not sure what you mean by opening them up under the tb. I have the 42 mm tb.and I don't think I should enlarge anything beyond that dimension, at least where the throttle plates seal.

Message: i was talking about the manifold itself. the v6's came with 3 size tb. 42, 44, 46mm. i have a stock v8 on mine and noticed a diff in performance toward the good.

Message: hey blue340mopar, check out my thread on custom throttle body boring. when i did this, i noticed an all around increase in power. if you are modding your intake, you should open up the tb ports to match the bore on your tb.

Message: If you do cut down the runners though, you have to fill in some of the areas inside the manifold with an epoxy/aluminum filler(cut down on internal area)
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: I cut back the plenum divider by 2", cut back my runners by .75" as well as milled the runners at 90 degrees to the manifold opening(where it bolts up to the headers), and finally bored out the throttle openings to 1.960" (just under the 50mm(1.9685") V8 TB opening).
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: cuzindoug, the manifold looks sweet! Did you bead blast it after you machined it? How come you didn't open up the injector bosses? I just traced out the gasket onto the manifold and I used a 1/2 inch ball-end end mill to open them up up to the trace lines. I noticed a much smoother idle after the mod.

Message: I was thinking about doing that, but haven't had the time. I am still in the process of reducing internal area with aluminum and belzona. Yeah, I porcelan bead blasted it after I was finished with the runners and divider.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Is it "cussin-doug" as in swearing or "cousin-doug" as in relations. I like your motto- If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
Nice job on the intake manifold, I'm impressed.

Message: It's a nickname from high school football and it's stuck with me ever since, and yes it's Cousin Doug. It was a pain to radius all the milled areas though, all I had was a burring bit and a pnuematic grinder, but the bead blaster helped "smooth" out the rough areas.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: Now thats what I'm talkin' about!! Nice job. Where are you going to apply the filler? The manifold looks good the way it is.

Message: That is what I am trying to figure out right now. I have a general idea where, but I want to make sure I do it right...belzona and other filler aren't exactly cheap.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
