Subject: Lowering my suspension
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm looking at doing a 2/4 drop on my 3.9. I am thinking of getting the Belltech lowering kit from Jegs.

My question is is this something I can do on my own? Are jack stands sufficient or do I need to a fancy lift? What kind of special tools might I need?

Thanks!

Here's what Jeg's site says it has. (Part #146-304)

"has everything you need to lower your vehicle the right way, including their Nitro-Drop Shocks! The Coil Spring kits lower the front of your truck using a new shorter spring with the stock spindle while the rear uses either Hanger/Shackle kits or spacer blocks and new U-bolts. The Spindle Kits retain the stock springs and use brand new dropped spindles. Includes Driveline Alignment Kit, if required."

Thanks bud!
(Greg - you get the check yet?)

HEY!!! didn't even realize it was you!
yeah i got the check friday... didn't really know you were serious about it. i am going to cash it monday and send it then (unless it doesn't clear...j/k).

the front is all hand tools... a jack and jackstand are all you need. the one special tool you might need is a pulley puller. you use it to seperate the control arms from the spindle. to get the spring out just have a jack under it when you take the spindle off... then lower the jack and it will let the spring loose... that way you wont need a spring compressor. the back is probably blocks and because our axles sit on top of the spring it is really easy... just jack the back up on stands, undo the u-bolts... jack up diff., then put blocks in place and use new u-bolts.

hope this helps.
