Subject: 93 dakota kicks off please help IP: Logged
Message: My 1993 Dodge Dakota starts fine but after I take off it will die out within 30 seconds to a minute after I start driving(it idles fine its after I shift into gear.) Any ideas? Does this fall into the faulty ASD Relay I have heard about?

Message: does the engine light come on? try checking the codes in the computer and see if it's saying anything. sounds like a sensor is going bad somewhere.

Message: clean the IAC on the back of the throttle body or replace it, This happened to me on my 93, cleaning it helped for a couple weeks but replacing it cured it.

Message: I took it over to Pep Boys this morning we will see what happens. Thanks for the info on the IAC. How much was it? Was it a dealer part? What does IAC stand for? Thanks.

Message: IAC= Idle air control solenoid/valve
cost about $50-$60. No, not a dealer part, you can buy it at any auto parts store.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: Ok Pep Boys replaced the crank sensor and electronic pick up sensor. I wanted them to fix the exhaust leak but they found that one of the exhaust bolts was broken off in the head. They said I would have difficulty having it removed while the head was in the truck. I havent checked out the bolt yet. Total cost 431.75 which sucks. It sucks paying that much and not having a new dual exhaust on it.
