Message: '93 dak (tb spacer, k&n intake, 3 in. exhaust)
daveshotdako,
so say i am going to modify my 3.9 quite a bit more ( rocker-
cam combo, msd, pcm, port heads etc...) would u suggest
boring the TB to 50 mm now (because i understand that highly
modified 3.9s work well with 50 mms)...or after i do the mods?
you can bore that wide correct dave?
thanks
Fed

Message: to begin with, the throttle body spacer is worth nothing but a paperweight. the bore on the intake is only 47.5mm so unless you plan on boring the intake to match the tb, i wouldnt go larger than a 48mm. i can bore a v6 tb to 50mm.

Message: Fed, you might want to talk to Larry w/ J&J on here. he has a stroked 3.9. you could ask him what size tb he's running. unless you stroke it, i think a 50mm will be too big. a 48mm should be fine otherwise. you could also check out Hughes Engines.com.

Message: I thought that I would post my experience with dave and my results of the tb that I ordered from him.
I had originally posted in another thread that I had no noticeable gain in performance and only a change in idle speed and change in shifting at different rpm. After some simple tuning with the TPS and the TV cable, my truck now idles only slightly faster than it used to (which I think is from optimizing the TPS to its recommended position for best performance) and in fact shifts better than it used to (from adjusting the TV cable).
At first I didn't really notice a huge gain by adding the TB because I think I had the impression it was going to be something major. But, after driving it for a week and allowing the computer to adjust it seems that the performance has gradually improved. It wasn't until this weekend when I tried to pass someone on a 2 lane road that the I really noticed the power difference in acceleration. I won't be able to post results of the mileage until later, but I am suspecting a slight increase.
Dave was great to do business with and seems to value customer satisfaction. I would recommend him to anyone considering the TB swap.

Message: Dave, I am needing some information on your throttle body boring. Whats the procedure, one of us sends you money, you send us the throttle body, then we send you our stock throttle body? Is this right? Thanks.

Message: I agree with 97Dakota3.9. I've been very hppy with the tb swap and I haven't even done the adjustment on the tps yet. The newness has worn off so now I can start looking into the mileage aspect of the swap but it'll be a little while before I have results.
As for doing business with Dave, I highly recommend him. He stays in communication with you, has a great product, and a superb price.

Message: I will also agree with the comments above. I have had Dave's 48mm TB for almost a month now. I did not notice a huge difference at first, but now that the computer has learned the new readings, I've noticed a big difference in power and gas mileage. I was getting 14.2 MPG before the TB and on the last tank of gas I had 16.8 MPG (and that's with stomping on it regularly). Dave is a great guy to work with and is easy to talk to. Definately worth the time and money.

Message: thanks for all of the good words guys. 02daksxt, i have a paypal account, so i can accept that as payment, or a certified check. i then bore a tb, or if i already have one bored, i ship it to you and you just ship me back your stock tb so that i can bore it for someone else. i really appreciate all the great feedback guys. as with any small business venture, it is the customers who make the business and then spread the word. thanks again guys.

You can use http://postcalc.usps.gov/ to help you calculate it. The box was about 8x8x10 and with a weight of about 2lbs. I don't remember Dave's zip code, but there is a lookup that will help you approximate it.
