Dave, where exactly are you living? I am in Alberta, Canada and was wondering if it would be worth my while to send the throttle body to ya. Where do you get your 48 mm throttle plates? You can e-mail me at dougpt@telus.net and give me more info. I looked at the pics of your tb and it is impressive! About how much of a difference did it really make, was it very noticeable or somewhat noticeable?

i live in northeast georgia, US. i make the plates myself as well as everything else for the tb's. i noticed an immediate improvement all around with performance and gas mileage, as long as i can keep my foot out of it. i noticed the biggest improvement in power above 3,000 rpm but i did notice a good improvement in bottom end as well. it was definately a noticeable difference. the day after i put it on my truck, i had to drive 120 miles to my parents house. on some of the hills that it used to downshift to make it up, it just climbed with ease without downshifting, but when it did, it would sit you back in the seat. i would say it was definately the best mod sofar. if you have anymore questions, e-mail me at davethomas2184@yahoo.com

I'm interested in one, but no extra cash at the moment - will have it in november. How long does it take you to make? I live near woodstock and can come and pick it up and even swap for the one on my truck then.

I'll get in touch with you next month and we can work something out. I can meet you somewhere and trade TB's if you have a spare one done or I can drop mine off and pick it up later.

By the way, what kind of air intake system do you have? Stock?

Installed the TB on Saturday of last week and got some Dyno numbers today. The TB only picked up about 5 HP and 5 TQ (much more on the Butt-Dyno). But, it also picked up 2-3 MPG. It was definately worth the money, in my opinion. It'll pay off for itself in a very short time. See my posts on my senior project thread for more info.

I just installed one of Dave's 48mm tbs and I'm glad I did. I noticed an improvement in the performance right away. It will be a little while before I see the mpg gains because I'll be lead footing for a bit. BTW, the workmanship is excellent in addition to Dave being a great person to do business with in price and communication.

thanks for the feedback guys. this little business has already helped me out a lot financially. first i had a speeding ticket to pay for and bald tires on my truck. it rained for the first time in a month in northeast georgia a week ago and it felt like i was driving on ice. my back tires are fine but i couldnt keep them from spinning. my back tires were bald on the outside which is most likely due to balljoints. i am having the recall work done on it next week to replace the ball joints. thanks again for the good words guys.

Dave-O, you should post when you're up a couple "ready to ship" units. The exchanging of TB's sounds like a good plan to get bites. Buyers don't suffer down time. The only snag is, will they return their core?

You can bet most will be cool. I called the bone yard, the other day, and they had V8 TB's ready to go for like $30. So... maybe you could snag some V6 flavors at that price and tweak 'em.

If the intake manifold bore is 47.5mm and the TB is 48mm, Can't you bore to 47mm? Sorry, I'm not a machinist.

I see 46mm as an option for a reduced price. How about a description of the difference in performance anticipated? What about stock non-modded engines, would the bored 46 be the better choice? Or the mondo 48 special?

so far, everyone that i have worked with has been great about getting their tb back to me. i havent had the time to go junkyard diving, but i plan on it when i can. as for the performance between 46mm and 48mm, im not really sure. so far, all i have done is the 48mm. it really all depends on if you plan any future mods. i did have a reduced price on the 46mm, but i now do them both for the same price of $150. either bore will give a stock non modded truck more performance and better mpg. like i said, it all depends on if you plan any future mods.

Cool, I think it may be a better option than the V8's too big of a bore deal. So why the even numbers 46, 48? why not 47 or 47.5? Still wondering, it's probably a lame question.

the only dumb question is the question that doesnt get asked. i can bore to any size that you would want. 47.1mm 47.2mm... those are just common sizes for a tb if you purchased it new so i just make them the same.
