Message: Well it can... but why?
I mean, the power band peaks at 4500 or so, then drops quick. Not to mention the fact that you get valve float going on above 4750...

Message: For all preMag engines (meaning carbed or TBI) I recomend ripping out all engine controlls and putiing in a Mopar Performance dist, ecu, resistor and wiring kit. I did this to a full size Ram with TBI and went to carb and that ignition kit and it was like night to day, it made that big of a difference and I had NO rev limit by electronics and I could feel the valves float.
You will need to go to a carb if your doing this with a TBI or course.
Good luck, Scott

Message: I don't think you get valve float at that low of a rpm.I hit 5000 daily an haven't got valve float. Most v6's can hit 6000-7000 before valve float, atleast the ones i've driven do.

I didnt see that kit listed in the current MP book, let me know if you want the part # and I will look it up in an older one, someone may have it laying around.

Message: I found some interesting information on the Dakota rev limiter, for those interested. I just bought a 2002 Dakota with a 4.7. I did not even know what a rev limiter was until last weekend when my engine shut down at 100 m.p.h. I did some checking. There is a company that makes a bypass to the rev limiter. It is Hypertech. Performance International is their distributor. Contact them at http://www.performanceintl.com/contact.html
For now they have them for Dakota's through 2001. They are in development now for 2002 and 2003. They hope to have those ready by mid spring 2003. Hope this helps. I am waiting my time till spring
