Subject: Engine trouble. Gear is slipping! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 automatic V6 with 72,000 miles on it. Recently the check engine light went on, and I've been having some real issues. When I put it into drive the gear doesn't catch. It revs up to about 5,000 RPM and then it will finally shift into the next gear and drive properly. I've noticed this tends to happen more frequently when my fuel starts to get lower. A friend suggested the fly wheel is loose, but I wanted some more input before I take it in to get fixed. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated, I am desperate!

Message: i suggest you pull the codes and found out what going on. probably a sensor or solenoid valve in the tranny sticking. have you had the trans serviced recently?

Message: Yeah you better try and pull some codes with those symptoms. daddio is probably right- sensor or selinoid malfunction somewhere.

Message: I second that notion- I should have thought of the transmission fluid. It sure would save Dan a lot of money if it's only low on trans fluid!

Message: the trans fluid level is fine, I check it weekly. unless i'm checking it wrong, i don't think that is the problem.

Message: well Autozone pulled these codes P1757, P1762 but they couldn't tell me what they were because they are manufacturer codes.
