Subject: Problem during V8 swap
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm swapping in a 5.9 supercharged as we speak, but I am having troubles getting the NV3500 transmission off of the 3.9. I've got most of the engine dissassembled, along with the headers off. Next step is transmission off.

Is it possible to swap the engines without dropping the transmission? I have 4x4 and in order to drop the transmission it will add a lot of work. The exhaust, crossmembers and front axle are all in the way.

Can I swap the engines without dropping the transmission, or do I have to drop the transmission along with the engine and pull it out as a single unit? I'm worried about the splines not matching up, I already have the new flywheel.

I don't need theoretical from people who say yay/nay without actually doing it. I'm doing it right now and need real answers from people who have done the swap.
