Message: I have a '92 dakota with the 3.9,last winter i noticed sometimes that the starter wouldn't turn on and i had to cycle the ignition a couple of times to get it to turn over, so a couple of weeks ago i tried starting it and it wouldn't start period no matter what, so I bought a brand new starter, put it in,now i can hear the gear going into the flywheel but nothing happens,i took the starter back to the parts store, they bench tested it and said it was fine, friends have said the engine could have seized, could anyone help, i really don't want to have to haul the engine out

Message: Have you tested the battery? If they start to go bad then they won't have the cranking power to turn over the engine. You CAN turn the motor by hand...it's a bitch, but it can be done. Make sure the key is turned off, make sure the transmission is in neutral, grab ahold of the serpentine belt and pull.(you might want to pull the plugs as well to eliminate the compression cycle)
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: yupp i agree with cuzindoug
i'd start by getting the battery tested
if its ok then get some masking tape and a pen or marker & mark all your plug wires
and then pull all the plugs
see if the motor will turn
if your good there
then wiring
could be a bad connection or broken or crudy wire
