Subject: 90 Dak Will Not Start When Engine is War IP: Logged
Message: 3.9L v6, 4x4
Got a bad tank of gas about a month ago. Local mech dropped the tank. Emptied and dried out same. New fuel filter. New tank screen. Said he blew out the fuel line and injector.
Truck runs smooth when cool, but as soon as the block warms, the engine begins sputtering and backfiring, chugging, and missing.
Once the block is warm, the truck will not re-start. The engine will turn, but will not catch. I have to let the block cool off before it will restart.
So, really I have 2 probs:
1. Rough running when the engine warms.
2. No start once the engine is warm.
Thanks for any advice!

Message: I would suspect the o2 sensor since its signals are not used until motor is warmed up.

Message: PROBLEM RESOLVED
I changed the coil, distributor, rotor, plugs and wires and it runs like new. I think the coil was the culprit for as soon as I swapped it, the truck fired right up even though the block was still warm. Now runs smooth at any speed. No backfires, no misses, no hesitation.
I bet the EGR is original to the truck and the o2 sensor probably is too, but I don't want to go borrowing trouble by replacing them.
