I just built mine on wednesday heres what i did
11" of 3" exhaust pipe (cleaned and deburred well)
K&N cone filter (get a big one)
i just pulled out the stock air box and clamped the new set up in. im still working on making a bracket to hold the pipe secure but i wrapped the pipe in some heat reflective tape b/c i heard about problems with the pipe conducting heat from the engine and heating the air (everything helps i guess) i got a fairly small filter (i think its only 5-6 in long so make adjustments to the pipe length accordingly (use a tape measure) I got a flowmaster installed the same day so they hooked me up with the pipe free of charge
