Message:
hi all...maybe someone can help me out. I have 99 Dak 3.9L V6 and just the other day while driving, it started to act like it was running out of gas...but tank was 1/2 full! After 100 yards of driving and sputtering it cleared up and drove fine. this happened again several times in the past days. Has anyone else had the same probs? Any ideas what i should look at first?

Thanks,
Olindo

Throttle Position Sensor, O2 sensors, MAP sensor. That's where I'd start.

Sounds like the fuel pump to me, check the pressure on the fuel rail - 30 to 40 lbs.

When was the fuel filter changed, had that happen on my 92 and that was the culprit. Yours might be in the fuel tank.

I am not getting a 'check engine' light...might that rule out the sensors and point a stronger finger at the fuel pump/filter? As a point...nope I have never checked/replaced the fuel filter. I will check the fuel pressure. Thanks.

You don't get a "check engine light" with bad sensors. However, the fuel delivery issues that have been mentioned could also be an issue, as well as water in the gas tank.
