Subject: I got the plugs, now... IP: Logged
Message: I just got some Autolite 3923 plugs for my 2002 3.9L SXT. (Gibson catback and K&N drop-in) I've gapped them to .040 and plan on installing them tonight. I'm gapping them as such because of the feedback I've seen on other posts. It seems most of the advice is coming from people in the warmer states. I live in frigid Wisconsin and was wondering if these plugs are going to have any issues with really cold temperatures? Thanks

Message: i took my autolites back and got my bosch platnum +4 back. im not sure about the difference in size of the spark plug. i head from a guy that knows alot about cars that the shorter plug would cause less compression in the cylinder than it is supposed to, so the spark would be weaker. im going to install the boschs sunday. hopefully thaey will help a little.

Er? Wha? Well, I suppose so... but not a measurable difference on a gauge. It'll still be 9:1 ratio (I think thats right). I don't see how compression has -crap- to do with spark though.

Message: thats what he said. i think that that much difference in sizr of the plug would make some difference if a slight fraction of and inch makes a difference with the gap. that was what i figured. im not familiar with compression rates and such. anyways, im going with the boschs, ive only heard good things about them. hope you like the autolites.

Message: i'm interested in getting the 3923's for my 93 318 v8, and noticed that they're gapped to .40 but my emissions thing under the hood says my plugs should be gapped to .35
does the .40 gap give it the colder heat range, or is that something totally different? will it be ok to run them with the .40 gap, or will i have to gap them to .35?
just a little confused, that's all.
thanks in advance

Message: Pony,
Huh, I just gapped mine to what it said too on my truck, which was .040... if yours says .035, do it at .035 :0)
