Subject: blower motor on 1994 dodge dakota IP: Logged
Message: my heater and a/c blower has quit working. I have been told that there is a resistor located under the hood that could be bad. I have looked and think that I have found it. It has a part # 4462844 on it and I was wondering if this was it.
How would you test the switch also

Message: In order to test the switch for the blower. Turn the fan all the way up, and pull the fuse for the for the blower. Next, put a volt meter between the two fuse leads. If you don't get a reading, then the switch is shot. If you do get a reading, then there may be a relay somewhere underhood or in the cab that may need replacing. Try replacing that before you start tearing apart the dash to get at the blower motor.

Message: I don't know about the part number, but the resistor you're looking for is mounted in the firewall, and has a plug with several wires plugged into it. Two sheet metal type screws to remove it, and if it's bad it should be pretty evident. The one on my 92 went bad, but it was simple to fix it....new ones are available, but mainly from the dealer, I just fixed the one I had in about ten minutes.
