a manual!" Blah blah blah but yeah the thing is i want to have a
decent V6 and keep my truck...its been in the family since '94 so
i know everything it's been through.

Message: what would be your cheapest route to go from auto to manual is to find a donor truck with the drivetrain you want(i.e. 318 w/ 5 spd) the same year as your truck in a salvage yard. it would be some serious work though.
it's all about how YOU would want to do it. that's what hot-rodding is all about. you would probably need a daily driver so the truck could stay down for a while. and a shop to work in.

Message: Just installed the ASP Crank Underdrive Pulley. Pretty easy install. My truck seems to run a little smoother.
Can anyone tell me HOW an underdive pulley works? I don't understand what advantages there are to these things. The pulley is a little smaller--so what?

Message: I installed the crank underdrive pulley and Dynoed my truck for what could be the final time. The pulley gave me 6 more HP. The numbers were (about) 150 HP and 220 ft/lbs. TQ. That is an increase of 22 HP and 46 ft/lbs. TQ. over stock (if I remember correctly).
I now have the Performance setting installed on my SuperChips instead of the 87 Octane program. Definate difference, but I don't think I have enough money to Dyno my truck again and see what kind of difference.
Unfortunately, I believe my project has come to a close unless I feel like spending some Christmas money on a cam or something ;-)

Message: That's pretty damn good. About a 20% increase in HP with bolt-on's and synthetic fluids only. Good job!! Now, like you said, all you need is more money:)
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: I'd like to see the hp/tq numbers the Superchip #3715 makes when installed on our 3.9L V6. I just installed mine tonight, and I was amazed. I'm still a little cautious of the chip hurting my engine in the long run, but i've only heard good things so far.
Also, about the senior project. I just graduated last year, and I also had to do a senior project. I decided to write and perform a song. Your project was such an awesome idea. If I would have thought of that last year, I would've tried it too. Gaining almost 50 torque is not bad at all man. Good job.

Message: Ok, here's the price breakdown on my project:
Harland Sharp 1.7 Roller Rockers - $220 (sponsored)
ASP Crank Underdrive Pulley and belt - $80 (sponsored)
Royal Purple Fluids - about $75 (sponsored--they actually sent me $300 worth of oil)
Custom Cold Air/Ram Air Intake - $75
Dave's 48mm V6 Throttle Body - $150
Superchips Tuner 3715 - $330
Flowmaster Cat-Back Exhaust - $300
Total that I paid - $855
Total of sponsored products - $375 ($600 if you count all that Royal Purple sent me)
Final Total - $1230 ($1455 with total value of Royal Purple)
Alec-
Look back at previous posts on this thread and you can see a full description of the SuperChips results. I think it added 2 HP and 18 ft/lbs. TQ on the 87 Octane program. If you run it on the Performance setting (like I do now), the HP and TQ goes up considerably, though I do not have definite numbers as to how much it goes up.

Message: Forgot to add in one more price--
I Dynoed my truck 7 times at $40 a pop (which is actually a discounted rate). So that's another $280 added to the total.
Total that I paid - $1135
Total of sponsored products - $375 ($600 if you count all that Royal Purple sent me)
Final Total - $1510 ($1735 with total value of Royal Purple)

Message: Thanks Gunner. I only have one more request. If you ever get around to getting ur Dakota dynoed once more for your senior project, id be interested in seeing the power the Performance setting adds. When I first installed it, I was spinning my tires by accident (since I was used to my "deathflash" i guess) haha.
