Subject: High Idle IP: Logged
Message: Help, i have an 89 Dakota w/ 150,000m and replaced the engine computer, fuel lines, checked the fuel pump, replaced EGR Valve, and still have a high idle and a rough start(cold weather) with a little backfire goin' on. Not enough money to keep guessing at the moment or to pay a mechanic to tell me i need to replace everything.

Message: First reset the computer(disconnect battery and short leads together) and also check for a vaccuum leak.

Message: Check the heated air inlet on your air cleaner intake, and check to see if the vacuum diaphragm is working on it. Also, when you replaced the EGR, did you clean the ports that it sits on??? Have you checked your ignition timing??? Have you checked the throttle linkage??? Just start going over what could be the problem.
