I get my new 2002 Dodge Dakota v-6 tomorrow. Can't wait. Haven't owned a Dodge since my slant six 84. You couldn't kill that engine.

Good for ya.
A little story: My mom had a friend years back who had a 73 Duster sideways 6, she called my mom one evening and said it ahd lost power and made a huge knocking noise and she was done with it, kowing I was into Mopars she told mom i could have it I just had to go get it from where she left it when it died.
I got to it to find a baseball size hole behind the starter where it had thrown #5, I started it and it ran (loudy though) so I stuffed a fist full of rags in the hole poured about 8 quarts of oil in her and drove it 30 miles back to my house!!!
You are right in saying they are one tough little engine!!

Cancel it while u still can and get a V8 for gods sack. it gets the same/better milage. the V6 is horrible. i just hope its not a 4x4.
if you care at all about acceleration, don't get that truck. on the other hand if you plan to drive 20 with the left blinker on then good luck to you and the dakota is great otherwise. but I consider getting a V6 to be one of, if not the biggest mistake of my life.
oh yeah if your gonna be on this site you will have to deal with me, which is reason enough not to get a dak. beside the poor offset crash rating and sub-par breaks

ok I'm not really as emotional as my posts ok...well thats not entirely true...this V6 thing eats away at my brain and every time i see my exact truck with a V8 or a blue R/T with chrome rims or a nissan altima 3.5 se it makes me mad

Hey remember, you're not the only 'disadvantaged' one with a V6. We just manage to control our anger better. :-)
The V6 isn't a BAD engine, I'd personally say, considering it's the second SMALLEST engine for the truck it's in, and (with the right driver and maybe a few mods) can hang with the largest engines in the trucks to which it is compared. I know I've raced a few Ranger 4.0's and S10 4.3's, and while I've definitely lost a few, I've also won a few.
Current mods: A MUFFLER. That's it. (For now.)
Future mods: Tonneau cover
Underdrive pulleys
Removal of clutch fan
K&N FIPK
17" rims
And much, much more...
