I have a 98 dodge dakota sport V6. My brake light and abs light has been on for 2 weeks and my speed domitor was working every once and a while when I get up to 45mph then it just quit working all of a sudden. I have took it into shucks and have them test for codes and they couldnt find any codes then I took it to an auto mechanic and they did a dyicnostic test and they said it was the speed sencer in the transmission, so I bought a new one and put it in and it didnt solve the problem. then just the other morning my check eng. light was on and wont shut off so then I took it back to shucks and have them test it again and the code that showed up was PO500 and they didnt know what that code was. Soo PLEASE HELP me find out what is wrong with my truck I just bought it last month and I love it so far. it makes me sad:( that its not working right

Well first off DON'T DRIVE YOUR CAR WITH THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ON! This means there is a pressure difference in the system somewhere. I just had brake problems and both lights came on. It's not safe. Your P0500 code means "No vehicle speed sensor signal." This might be related to you changing your sensor, but have the sensor in the tranny and the rear-end. Check to see that they work, and the wires to them. Just a personal note I don't think I would take it to this "shucks" place if they can't tell you what a code is. They can find the codes, but not tell you what they are. Just my personal opinion. Hope that all helps.

Matt
