Subject: proper lugnut torque IP: Logged
Message: what is the proper torque on a 1998 3.9 ext cab
original 15 rims?
do I doube click the wrench or just once?
I have a 1/2 cheepee? can I used a proto 3/8 is a better brand?
is it true that improper torque can cause braking problems? I have a slight to moderate pulse
probably will do a new rotor/pad job myself
I'm on a budget what type pad is best for the buck? probably will be shopping at autozone
last Q for today what does the dakota r/t stand for?
Thanks guys for all your good info

Message: Generally 85-95 ft-lbs is right. Uneven or too tight all around can cause rotor warpage, leading to shuddering of brakes and overheating. Drive size doesn't matter; single click.
I use semi-metallic pads - no squeal and last long.

Message: actually on a 97 up to 04 it is 100-110 lb ft torque on each bolt. where did you get the 85-95 numbers as mine are for a 97 service manual, and confirmed in a 03 motors truck manual

Message: do you suppose that is why my truck has a sticker on it that says:
"hey Honda boy, my lugnuts require more torque then your engine produces"
the honda civic puts out 102 lb ft, torque.
