Subject: Fuel Filter IP: Logged
Message: As I understand the fuel filter is in the gas tank. Well how hard would this be to replace and what is the part number for my automatic 99 3.9?
I am wanting to replace this for my milage seems to really be dropping bad.

Message: try changing your O2 sensor. i don't think a bad fuel filter wouldn't make your mileage drop

Message: You'd have to drop your tank or pull the bed off, whichever you think is easiest. Don't know how the 99's are but the dealer told me my 2002 had the fuel filter built right into the pump. You had to actually buy a whole new pump and it was expensive!!! what was chrysler thinking? ungreasable ball joints, unreplaceable fuel fitlers!!! geez!!

Message: I think that my 99 may be like that also. Sux that every thing has to be special about these trucks, but they can be some cool, fun trucks.

Message: so best idea is to put a inline prefilter to fuel filter
protect the hard to fix tank filter
