Subject: Problems Starting IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota V6 3.9L and it started having trouble starting. It wouldn't turn over. The engine would crank but no fire. I changed the plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor. I used stock parts and now my truck won't start at all. It starts cranking but never turns over. There is now a very audible "whoomping" noise coming from the hood. Almost like a backfire. I checked all the wire mapping, proper gap, etc. I even changed the ignition coil. I followed the repair manual and I just don't get it. Any help out there? I know I am not using "performance" parts but I just need my truck to run. I have changed plugs and wires before and never ran into a problem.

Message: Double check wires
Then check ASD relay and maybe wiring to it.
Older trucks had problem with the harness
I thought it was supposed to be cleared up by 2000
But ??
Although sounds more like the wires are one cylinder out of placement.
