Subject: Plug Wire Question IP: Logged
Message: I changed my plugs, dist cap and rotor last night. While pulling off the #4 plug wire, the wire came loose from the electrode that connects to the top of the plug. Of course, now it idles rough and the check engine light is on. What code should I be getting if the #4 spark plug wire is not connected as it should be?
Thanks

Message: You are more than likely getting a cyl. 4 misfire code, meaning that cyl. 4 is not firing properly. Replace your plug wires is your best fix. If you dont want to go to the expense, just repair the one that is broken. Re-set your PCM by unplugging your negative battery cable and waiting 30 seconds or so. If you are wanting better performance, I would recommend replacing your plugs with Autolite 3923's.
Good Luck!
