Subject: Where can I find my truck's weight? IP: Logged
Message: I just moved to CA and the DMV needs the weight of my '99 Dakota. They say it would be on the Title but I don't have that yet. Would it be in the instruction manual anywhere? (I've looked but didn't see it.) Or would it be listed anywhere else? They just need very basic proof, otherwise I'll have to go get it weighed somewhere which will probably be a pain....

Message: If you have to resort to weighing it remove whatever you can to get the weight under 4000#s (no spare, empty gas tank, no toolbox, etc.). If the truck is under 4000#s your weight fees will be $20/year, if it is over you will pay $80/year. This is because pickup trucks are considered commercial vehicles in California regardless of how they are used.

Message: in NY state the weight is on the registration sticker, so you may want to check that. but it should definitely be in the door or door jamb unless it got wore out
