 Subject: oil pressure

I have a 2001 dakota with a 3. At a light my oil pressure goes down to the very lowest spot on in the safe zone. should it be getting this low? The other veichles I have still hold it at about half at an idle. Thanks.

It sounds like your oil screen on the oil pump pickup is clogged up. you need to pull the pan and clean the screen and the pan. If you don't your engine will self destruct.

it does sound low. is the warning light coming on?
the first thing i'd do is put a mechanical gage on it to make sure it's just not the sending unit. FSM says 6psi minimum @ idle and 40 psi minimum @ 3,000 RPM.
