Subject: O2 sensor Problem IP: Logged
Message: Hi!
I have a 1996 Dak V6 3.9L. 87,770 miles. I have been battling the check engine light and the O2 sensor. I has the original O2 Sensors in it. It started with codes 51 and P0171. I put in a different upstream O2 sensor. Now it throws a 21 & P0132 code. It means O2 sensor # 1 Shorted HI. So, I put the old one back in, and it shows the same code, even after I disconnected battery to reset computer. I am confused. Any IDEAS??!!
Please HELP!!!!
Thanks!
Frustrated!!!!

Message: Take it in! Have dodge dealer hook up their scan tool. With gas as expensive as it is and sensors $70+ better to be sure. You'll have to pay the diagnosis fee ($100+or-) I think its worth it. By the way, make sure you replace them with parts from the dealer if you do it your self. I've put in I don't know how many aftermarket sensors including the O2, most last a week or so before the code comes back. Spend the money, get the genuine part!
