 Subject: changing ignition lock cylinder

hey guys
I attempted to swap my ignition cylinder this week but the manual seems to be wrong. I pulled the wheel and the turn signal switch peice and I got down to this yellow or cream colored plastic thing, it is a heavy duty peice of plastic and it appears to be the basis for everything else to be screwes into. I cant figure out how to get old lock assembly out.
this is a 1988 dodge dakota with colum shifted auto trans and no tilt wheel.
any help would be greatly liked...
