Subject: Break Line Leak IP: Logged
Message: To make a long story short, I have a leak in a break line. It is a line that goes to the rear end. The leak is on the drivers side right under the driver's door. There seems to be two lines that run to the back and it is the bottom line. It is all rusted (truck was up north) and has a pin hole leak. My question is, how hard will this be to fix? Anyone ever changed lines to the breaks? Is bleeding the breaks tough? Thanks for any help is advance!

Message: Odds are you're going to have to replace the brake lines, flush the system of all brake fluid and replace it. When i say brake lines I mean both of the brake lines, including inspecting all lines, the rear proportioning valve, all fittings, and the rubber hoses connecting the hard lines to the front calipers and rear proportioning valve. Buy a lot of break fluid, a break line bender, and set aside a Saturday just for this job. You're probably going to be under the truck for a while.
