Not a car expert. i think my dakota is not shifting into 3 gear on the highway travelling about 120 k/hr with OD off. As i start going uphill, i'll start to loose speed and so i will give it more gas, but i get no response. Soon it is floored and the thing keeps loosing speed. If i let off the gas and then floor it a little more aggresively, it'll sometimes shift down, but not always. Do these things have some sort of sensor to prevent downshifting while going that fast? Anybody else with similar issues? I had the tranny reprogrammed at the dealership.

I live in the flatest part of the world in nw ohio, and the closest things to hills around here are over-passes, you get on the top of one of them and can see 20 miles or more. so I really never had that problem.

I dont know how the computer controlled trannies control downshifting. I would guess you might want to try your throttle position sensor. If that isnt reading correctly then you will have that problem. but thats all i have for you, my truck uses a kickdown cable.
