Message: You can retrofit 134a for r12 but it has to be done by a certified refig. reclaimer so not to vent the r12 to the atmosphere. Then you can put in 134a, but that doesn't fix your fan problem. You have a problem with the fan resistor block which is located in the firewall. It's easy and cheap to replace. If I were you I'd change that first, then if you can't get cold air, retrofit it with the 134a.

Message: Dennis is right. My a/c fan would work sometimes and not work sometimes. Come to find out there is a plug that plugs in on the pass. side of the firewall. The fan resistor block like Dennis stated. The connections on the plug had gotten loose, so I took some needlenose pliers and closed the connetors slightly. Just enough to get a better connection. Now it works fine after a year or so later.
