Message: Maybe someone can help me with this. i am having a problem with my 00 Dak V6. on a cold start i can drive the truck and it starts and runs fine but after a period of time it will stall and not restart for about 15-45 minutes. when it stalls and i attempt to restart it, it sounds like it's not getting any fuel. i called the dealership and he said it might be a faulty fuel pump. i've already changed the oil, oil filter, air filter plugs and wires and am still having this problem. another thing it will do is if i drive it somewhere and park it for a brief period of time eg. to run into the store and come back out, the truck fails to start. it will turn and the starter and battery is good but it does not fully turn over and start. i have to make several attempts to get it to start and finally it will start after about 15-30 minutes of trying. any other ideas on this matter? I was thinking fuel pump or fuel filter. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Message: first 4 yrs i had my truck it never stalled
then ran into eppisodes where it stalled
once or twice a day - fuel pump died 5 or 6 days later, what yr is your truck?
check the fuel lines running along the frame you may luck out and have an inline fuel filter
(depending on yr)
also next time the truck wont start check for fuel right at the engine at the fuel rail

Message: unfortunately on his '00 the fuel filter is attached to the pump which is in the tank.
are you gettings any codes? could be a faulty/ loose connection or relay. check fuel pressure while running and after sitting (to make sure the system holds press.)

Message: No i'm not showing any codes. the only way i know to get the codes is to turn the key from off to on twice and back to off and then back on and on the digital odometer it shows "P done" but that's all i'm getting. no check engine light, no flashing codes or anything of that nature

Message: On 98 and later daks, you can't do the on-off-on-off-on trick, you have to use a code reader. Best bet is to go to autozone or advance auto parts, and they will let you borrow theirs to do the check. Joe, i think the inline fuel filters stopped in 95 (around the time of the EGR)
