Subject: V8 TB Cable...n stuff
IP: Logged

Message:
OK from previous posts I've read that the V8 cable was easily replaced in 5 min and it took about an hour to do the TB. I dont get it the way it's lookin it's gonna take me longer to change out my cable then it is gonna be to replace the TB it's self. How much of a pain is it to get the cable through the fire wall? Thanks

That's because you listened to someone that has never done it. Just look at how the cable is routed and then replace it with the new one. It takes me 20-30 minutes for the cable but I've done it a few times. Same with the TB only a little less time. If it's your first time, don't rush it. It may take you a couple two or three hours the first time to do both of them.

Do yourself a favor and get a manual from you local auto parts store.

I had the cable done in 5 min. all you have to do is remove the cable end from the gas pedal, squeze the sides of the black clip w/ a needle nose and push it out into the engine comp.

TB took me about 20 min. Air hat off, sensors upplugged along w/ vac line, remove Kick down and throttle cable, remove 4 bolts to manifold.

Reverse and your done.

Well since my cable decided it would be cool to be a pain in the a$$ it took me a while til I got mad. I hope I wont ever need that again cuz that little black clip u just squeeze didn't want to come out that easy. So I took a screw driver bent one side back went uder the hood and yanked. Second thing to bring me my madness was my old gasket fell apart so I went to autozone to get a new one and they dont even carry them at all. And all other auto parts stores were closed. This better be awesome cuz I went through a bunch of stupid crap for this. Still fun to work on the truck even though I got mad.
