Subject: Exhaust for V6? IP: Logged
Message: Howdy.. Just got my Dakota last Friday.. It's a 98 5 speed (Mag. V6) w/ 86,000 miles on it.. I'm wonder what exhaust systems are good out there?
I want something that sounds throaty, but doesn't have a horrid drone when im on the freeway, a little performance boost is always welcome
I've seen some on Summit racing.. any recommendations?
Thanks!
Ps.. I friggin love this thing.. I've always driven cars, I use my Corolla for commuting to work, but this thing is damn fun to drive :)

Message: the great muffler debate! LOL
ok anyway Tim
welcome to the world of Dakota ownership
do a search up top and you'll see tons of posts
on the subject
usually just a muffler change and keeping the current system is good
flowmaster.com (as someone mentioned today)
has sounds avalible on their site
just dont go to bigger pipes
the V6's run best with some back pressure
far as sound, one guys love is anothers hate
so look around hear one you like ask the guy what he's got for a muffler (just make sure its a 6 cause you wont get the 8 sound
and i was just at flowmaster's website
the sound wav's they have up are pretty good and real helpful .........

If you like that, I'd suggest going with the 40 series delta flow though...mine does have a lot of droning in the cab, but that's what the delta flow was designed to eliminate without affecting the outside sound.
