Message: mark its real easy to do and what it does is tricks the computer into thinking the motor is running colder adding more fuel (& timing too i believe)
improved performance and i gained a bit better mileage
what year is your truck? and what engine?

Message: Marksmith, the lack of response is because this subject has been beat to death. Just write IAT in the scan area and you'll get a ton of feedback to go over. I put my IAT about six inches from it's original spot by making a bracket and attaching to the altenator mount support. I didn't want it to be too far from heat because I do not intend on changing it back when the weather gets cold. The K&N air filter I have for a 95 doesn't use a cold air intake hose it just sits on top of the TB. Most drill a 1/2 hole in the air intake hose and locate the IAT there. You must plug the old IAT hole.

Message: 1) not hard at all
2) you can locate it in the airbox or anywhere before the tb.
3) it will tell the pcm to add more fuel and timing advance. every truck reacts differently. the only diff i saw on my '00 QC 3.9 was a drop in gas mileage.
one good thing is if you don't like it, you can always put it back in the stock location as i did.

Message: The IAT sensor mod is pretty worthless. The computer will only allow the engine to run just so rich and then it shortens up the pulse width on the injectors providing less fuel. One thing that might make the IAT mod work and that is an O2 sim which will tell the PCM that the fuel mixture is correct.

Message: hi N56629
but sorry i have to disagree
i had a noticable difference with this mod on mine,(94 3.9) seems it works best on older 3.9's
(from what i've read)
i also think it was Larry that said
"this mod doesnt have the same effect on all trucks" or something to that affect
& heck like daddio just said if you dont like it
you just put it back in the stock location
total cost of this is a 1/4 NPT brass pipe plug
18 inches or so of wire, blck tape, bud connectors & teflon tape (ake. plumbers tape)
and i bet the guy might even have most of the stuff needed already

Message: No one has ever been able to explain what the computer does when it detects the rich mixture. It's possible that it works on some trucks and not others because they are operating near the lean range. For those trucks that are already as rich as the computer will allow, only benefit for a short time until the compter recognizes the overly rich condition and compensates for it.
