Subject: Reving high while driving....... IP: Logged
Message: Lately my '96 magnum has been reving up high around 3000 rpm's while going down the road. If I let of the gas, as if to come to a stop, it will start reving up. I throw it into neutral and the tac hits 3000-3200 rpm's and stays there for a minute or so, then goes back to normal. Seems to only do it after starting cold and driving a mile or two.
Anyone ever experience this?
What could be the cause?
Thanks,
Daveo.

Message: Daveo, I have the same problem but never in drive, only in neutral or park. I am pretty sure that bigdave is right. Vacuum leak. Pretty soon I will be changing out my intake manifold with one that I am mildly modifying. I made a 1/4" aluminum plenum plate to replace the crappy, leaky one that is on my '98 4x4 now. I am hoping that will take care of the wild revving.
