Subject: computer (maintenence required light)... IP: Logged
Message: I just changed the computer in my '89 - 3.9 - 4WD.
It fixed the voltage regulator problem. Now, how do I get rid of the "maintainence required" light on the dash? I tried resetting the computer (remove negative cable, turn key on for 15 seconds) but is is still there. I can live with it, but is htere a way to get rid of it?

Message: I tried the 1 minute approach and it is still there. Any other suggestions? Other than taking it to a dealer or mechanic and paying 40 bucks? I'm really not too bothered by it, I just figured there was an easy way to do it.

Message: Many AutoZone and Checker stores (Schucks, Kragan) have OBD's that they'll hook up for free to troubleshoot the source of the light. Might be worth a try...
