Hi everyone, I just traded my 94 Dakota for a nice 04 sport Dakota. This one has the remote door locks and whenever I get out of my truck and lock the doors with the remote...the horn honks. Now I'm sure that this was built in as a signal to me that indeed it did lock but when I get home at midnight or so from work I dont want to be honking the horn and waking up the people who live around me. QUESTION...is there a way to change this so that the horn will not sound when I lock the doors with the remote?

No clue as to whether it can be disabled...but I hiiighly doubt a short honk is gonna wake people up around you...at least not enough to piss them off.

Shoot, I got a Flowmaster 40 series muffler on my truck dumped under the bed and I come home quite often between 2am and 5am and have a grouchy (nice during the day...grouchy if you piss her off at night when she's trying to sleep) older lady who lives nextdoor and she's never once complained to me or my family about it. And I guarantee you that's considerably louder than a short honk...lol.

After doing further searches I found this posted by "BLIZZARD". It works great and now I'm happy.

1. Get in.
2. Fasten your seat belt.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Hold the lock button for 4 seconds
5. While holding the lock button press the panic button.
6. A chime rings to let you know it worked.
