Message: I wanted to try this but wanted to get some clarification on it. I have read that all you need to do is unplug the spark plug and plug in the c-tool.
Then do i just start it up and turn it off immediately or start it and let it run for a couple seconds.
Also i read, if a cyl had low compression to squirt a little oil in the cyl. Do i just squirt a little in the spark plug hole?
Please no flames, i am here to learn.

Message: Compression is tested with the engine fully warm (hot). For best results, remove ALL the spark plugs, screw the compression tester into a spark plug hole, block the throttle fully open, unplug the fuel relay so the truck won't start, and crank through about 5 cycles. Do this for each cylinder. If a reading is low for a cylinder, squirt a little oil in the spark plug hole and retest. If the reading improves noticeably, the rings are bad; if not, the valves are bad. Readings should not vary by more than about 10% from one cylinder to another.
Don't forget to plug the fuel relay in afterward.
