Message: Hello All, I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport with the club cab 4x4. Here are the issues. My ABS and brake light on the cluster have been on for about a year because i got water in the differential ( i am assuming) Now the speedometer is jumping all over the place and the truck is stalling when i come to a stop. My truck is an automatic, sometimes it stalls before i stop as well. Anyway. The dealer replaced the MAP sensor thinking that was the issuee. It was not. Last night i replaced the IAC sensor. This also didnt work. Any other suggestions?

Message: As far as the speedo, it is your speed sensor on the Trans not the rearend. It is located on the driver side near the rear of the trans, has I belive 3 wires going to it. I just replaced mine, speedo stopped working, tach was all over the place and stalled at stoplights. I think it was about 20.00 dollars at Autozone. You will have to splice the wires because it has a different connector, and watch out when you pull the sensor out, tranny fluid will come out(I got it all over my face).

There is a speed sensor in your differential that will cause your ABS light to illuminate.
Damn you actually drive around with problems for a full year before trying to fix them?
I'd get a scanner and find out what issues you have going on. I bet it's that rear wheel speed sensor. It's $20 or so and you DON'T have to splice anything. There is another speed sensor on your trans, I have yet to hear about one going bad and what the symptoms are though.

a-Mark is spot on. If the ABS indicator was on that means the function (anti-lock) may have been disabled. Uh, not a good idea if drivers and road conditions are like my state.
Repeat three times: Anti-lock good.

Message: on wet pavement in front of a gas station, anti-locks "failed" and caused wreck, I stood on the brakes and the truck never even slowed down. witnesses to it said the front wheels, that are not anti-lock did not lock up and should have. on dry pavement I can get the fronts to lay big skid makes but as soon as it gets wet out, its like driving on wet ice. any time them damm things engage my stopping distance at least triples, and it feels like it will take untill next week to stop. If there is a way to remove them (not disable) and not mess with the computer I would welcome it.
