Message: I find with most Chrysler products that the ignition rotor gets consumed faster, so I replace it at 15K miles, and wires and dist cap at 30K. Some will go twice that distance, but they're not that expensive, and I prefer to maintain top performance.

Message: I guess I need to change mine then. I've got 110K on my 99 3.9 and still have the original wires, cap, and rotor. I'm getting 18MPG - I wonder if I could improve on that by changing the wires, cap, and rotor?

Message: If you have not modified your iginition system, then your cap, rotor, and wires should last for a good 60K. I found on my 97 Dak that once I installed an accel super coil and an MSD 6A, I am having to replace the rotor and cap about every 30K.

Message: Just bought my truck and had to remove the dist. cap and wires. They are origional 160K miles, and I get 20 MPG (60% highway, 40% Phoenix city) with a light throttle and shift before 2500 RPM. I'll change the cap and wires if it will get me more MPG, but I doubt it. Jeeze, I wonder if the plugs are origional too....

Message: Personally I don't replace the wires until I get a miss or I can tell the engine isn't running right. I run the $80 set of wires though and I always by the V8 set so I have spares.
Cap and rotor should be done once a year depending on your mileage in a year. 15k is probably a good reference point.

Message: you must not have read your owners manual 30,000 is the Dodge recommendation for plugs cap and rotor on all year magnum V-6 engines. And no -where does the manual say as needed.
