AS PREVIOUSLEY STATED IT IS A DEALER FIX ONLY AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS ARE COVERED FOR LIFETIME UNDER WARRENTY SO TAKE IT TO A DEALER.

So I couldn't take my truck to autozone and have them scan it to see what's tripping the light? I have a real good idea it's my clock spring since I did a body lift and my steering wheel moved quite a bit when I disconnected my steering. Bad thing is, is that the dealer wont just go in and look to see if that's it and repair it they want to go through the whole thing. $140 just for labor if in fact it's the clockspring, another $50 for the part and atleast another 70-140 for them to look around to see if it's anything else. Maybe the light will burn out...hope I don't wreck since airbag wont go off. Another thing is, is that my horn works and I was told if it's the clock spring my horn shouldn't work.
I'm lost and not enough money to just let them goof around and look for crap.

My 2005 Quad Cab has started having the same problem. The light will come on during the start and not go off sometimes for a day or so.
Since it is a "dealer fix only" it must be a good thing I took it to the dealer to have them check it out. Of course the light had gone out by then and they couldn't find anything. Their suggestion was to leave it with them for a few days and they'd try to make it come back on. I asked them if they would refund me for the wear and tear and gas and when they said no I also said no. I told them I'd keep a log of what was going on when the light doesn't go out the next few times and give them that information.
I was informed by them that it was covered under the 3year/36000mile warranty part. I told them I didn't think so and that I was pretty sure it was lifetime and they told me that the parts had a lifetime warranty but for any repairs they would charge me labor. I didn't say anything else and walked out. They didn't charge me for the diagnostics that day for some reason.

There was a TSB a while ago that stated that the clock spring was "intermitently" faulty on some of the daks. If the stealership won't fix it, I would buy a new one($70-$80) and install it. It is a really simple job to do, won't take you more than 15 minutes. 2 bolts hold the air bag on, remove the steering wheel nut and steering wheel, another 4 screws in the clockspring, change it out, and it's fixed.

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
