Subject: Exhaust Manifold HELP???
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey y'all, my exhaust manifolds are about to fall out on my 98 dakota. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where to get new ones and how to get the broken bolts out. Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? Please help me!!!

i had the same problem on my 98, only on the driver side manifold. 2 ofthe boltswere busted in the head, i drilled them and tapped them out my self, and no problems. but make sure you get a gasket for it when you do put the manifold back on. dodge didnt put a gasket in at the factory, they machninedboth surfaces to fit perfect, but if you take the manifold off, you have to get a gasket. wherever you go to get parts will probably have the gasket,i got mine at NAPA.

Did y'all have to take off the fenders and front tires to get at the bolts?

no, i just worked under the hood. it gets tight in a couple places, but its do able. it also helps to have an angle head drill. but if you drill out the old bolts, be carefull, you cant be crooked when you drill em out, and you will mostly likey have to go to the next size bolt (i think its like a 5/16 to a 3/8) but make sure you drill and tap perfectly sraight or you have to buy new heads. and make sure you get the gasket or you will have the same exhaust leak.
