Message: Hey Everybody,
I recently purchased this Scan-tool that will give you instanteous and average gas mileage as well as many other parameters. The unforunate thing is that it will only work on OBD-2 compliant vehicles. It's too bad it will not work on OBD-1. Since our "wonderful" state legislature and governor here in Washington State have decided that we need a 9.5 cent a gallon gas increase on top of already high gas prices. It has become my mission to do everthing I can to improve my gas mileage and modify my driving habits according to support this. I believe that this tool will help me accomplish just that. Check out the following web site:
http://www.scangauge.com/
This unit is 129.95 this includes shipping and handling. Check it out.
Check out http://www.nonewgastax.com
This is our grass roots initative to tell the legislature we don't want higher gas taxes.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: I guess the website is down.
All taxes should be consumption based. At a time when we are passed peak oil production (11/01) we seem to be putting a Hemi in everything and not caring about how much oil be waste.
Discouraging needless overconsumption with a high consumer tax is good. I applaud WA for doing it. All states should follow suit but it should be higher, maybe $0.25/gal and be deductible for business owners.

Message: Why should only business owners get the deduction? Isn't that mentality the same as it is now, the rich benefit the most? Why can't I (joe worker) get that deduction?
And don't tell me to use public transportation or move closer to my job. There are no buses that run at 4am when i'm leaving for work. And oddly enough, the county that I live in (22 mile each way commute) has less tax than the one I used to live in (6 mile commute).
I live in the Atlanta area which offers incentives (I think $180/month) for "alternative working".. ie carpooling, taking public transit, telecommuting.
Sure, I guess I can telecommute as soon as the company pays for me to get highspeed internet access, cheap long distance (international included), a couple of digital telephone lines and a fax line. HA HA! fat chance, their expense for doing that for a few is far more than the expense their employees would incur for paying the higher gas tax.
Come on be real, politicians (and you Joe.C) need to consider what is best for all (majority) and not for a select few.

Message: If joe c was so concerned about consumption he wouldn't even know that this forum exists. You don't buy a Dakota, not even a v6, if you are that concerned. I would say anal, but that wouldn't be nice.
