Subject: MSD Ignition Confusion IP: Logged
Message: Im looking into getting the MSD 6 series for my 99. I have only exhaust, intake and chip mods, but will eventually get either cam or rocker mods. Do i want the MSD 6A or AL, also do i need to get a new rotor and distributor? I realize id have to get new wires, but what spark plugs should i use.
Also is this all worth it, or should i just get Bosch plat +4 plugs and a Bosch wireset and be done with it. As you can tell im new to this stuff.

Message: if you are not going all out in street/strip racing just send your money to me instead of buying a msd unit, you will see the exact same difference if you are installing it on your daily driver. None. and you will be either $179.88 or $229.88 poorer. As far as the plugs go platinum is good as the plugs will last a lot longer, multi prong sidewires is a sales gimic.

Message: if you absolutely want an ignition upgrade just get an aftermarket hi voltage coil. but i'm with gotta on this one, i don't think it'll help all that much for a daily driver. besides, the higher voltage will be hell on the cap & rotors.
for plugs, i run the reg Bosch plat's. 1 step colder range than stock gapped @ .035". they cured my pinging issues.
