I got a nice 87, 3.9,4WD,long bed Dakota for a grand the other day and it checked out good so far cept for some worrysome transmission problems.

I often notice small air bubbles when checking the trans fluid. The fluid is clean and doesnt smell burned or anything. One time when I put it into reverse, it did nothing until I put it back into park then reverse. Also when I shift into neutral when it is rolling, I hear a clicking sound.

The trans fluid was a quart low when I bought it when checked when hot, in neutral, with the engine running. I will put it up on jack stands this weekend and will check out the bottom real good and the transfer case fluid level cause it wines a lot in low range in "drive", but not so much in the two lower settings.

Any imput would be appreciated.
