Subject: cruise control engages at wrong speed IP: Logged
Message: I rarely use my cruise control, decided to use it a couple of times over the last few days.
When i set it and try to use it, the speed is off a few miles per hour. I'll set it at 70 and the speed will drop (as much as 5-6 mph) before engaging, I'll speed back up to 70 and reset and it could be 3-4 mph off. I am thinking it's time to replace the speed sensor? Anyone seen this before?

Message: Your speed sensor s fine. It's a condition called "lift foot set". Are yu settin the speed controlwith your foot off the acc pedal and just kinda wtching the speedo ad when it crosses the speed you want, pressing the button?
This is part of the adaptive feature of the speed control to compnsate for different cable lengths from truck to truck. Just make sure you always set the speed control with your foot on the acc pedal and maintain your speed fo 10 seconds before hitting the speed control button.
Resetting the PCM will clear the bad programming and you can teach it new from there.

Message: I always set it with my foot on the gas. It's always worked fine until the last couple of times I tried it. Again, I don't use it that often.

Message: This problem is usually caused by a vacum leak in the control actuator back by the firewall or the vacum line going to it.

Message: That does make sense, my heat/ac controls are not working - i can't switch between the differnet modes (floor, defrost, vent, etc).
